Return to Me (PG)
4.7 stars from 1300+ customer reviews

I’m a sucker for underrated romantic comedies, and this is definitely one of them (and one of my favorites). It’s a very sweet story…and yes, a little far fetched, of course.

Description from Amazon: “Bob Rueland, a Chicago building contractor, cherishes life with his veterinarian wife until she is tragically killed in an automobile accident. Meanwhile the family and friends of Grace Briggs, a waitress at a local Italian restaurant, are overjoyed when they learn that Grace will finally get a replacement heart (the heart of Bob’s wife). Both Bob and Grace struggle to maintain normal lives after these traumatic events, until fate intervenes and brings them together.”

Still Mine (PG-13)
4.6 stars from 4400+ customer reviews

This one sounds like a tearjerker.

Description from Amazon: “James Cromwell gives a tour de force performance in ‘Still Mine,’ a deeply moving love story about a couple in their twilight years. When Craig sets out to build a more suitable house for his ailing wife Irene, he is blindsided by the bureaucratic codes and officials. As Irene becomes increasingly ill, Craig takes a final stance against all odds to finish the house, in a truly inspirational story.”

Forever My Girl (PG)

Description from Amazon: “FOREVER MY GIRL tells the story of country music superstar Liam Page (Alex Roe), who left his bride, Josie (Jessica Rothe), at the altar, choosing fame and fortune instead. However, Liam never got over his one true love, nor did he ever forget his Southern roots. When he unexpectedly returns to his hometown, Liam is torn between his two worlds.”

Bridget Jones’s Diary (R)
4.6 stars from 1400+ customer reviews

Another one of my favorites. 🙂 I mean, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant in a really funny and sweet movie? Sign me up!

Description from Amazon: “A British woman is determined to improve herself while she looks for love in a year in which she keeps a personal diary.”

Ghost Town (PG-13)

Breathe is a heartwarming celebration of love and human possibility.”

The Big Sick (R)
4.5 stars from 2700+ customer reviews

I do want to see this one! Adding this one to my Watchlist now. 🙂

Description from Amazon: “This acclaimed comedy is based on the real-life relationship and culture clash between comedian Kumail Nanjiani and his future wife, Emily Gordon. When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail has to force himself to face her feisty parents, temper his family’s expectations, and follow his heart.”

Love, Rosie (R)
4.4 stars from 3800+ customer reviews

Description from Amazon: “Love, Rosie is a heart-warming, modern comedy-of-errors about Rosie and Alex. As each navigates the complexities of life, love, and everything in between, they always find their way back to each other – but is it just friendship, or something more?”

Life Itself (R)
4.4 stars from 3100+ customer reviews

I’m torn on this one (haven’t seen it yet). On the one hand, I’ve loved pretty much everything Dan Fogelman (creator of This Is Us) has put together. On the other hand, this movie got TERRIBLE reviews by critics. I suggest you check out the comments before trying this one.

Description from Amazon: “Life Itself centers on a couple (Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde) that lead a multi-generational love story spanning both decades and continents, from the streets of New York to the Spanish countryside, and are all connected by a single event.”

Greenfingers (R)
4.4 stars from 900+ customer reviews

Description from Amazon: “Colin Briggs is a man who has given up on life. Nearing the end of a long sentence for murder, Colin is transferred to Edgefield, a minimum-security prison in the Cotswolds. Once there, Colin meets Fergus Wilks, an eccentric “lifer” who gives Colin an unwanted packet of seeds as a Christmas present. He begrudgingly plants the seeds in Edgefield’s hard, infertile soil and, much to both men’s surprise; the seeds flourish along with the two men’s friendship. Impressed by the sight of the blooming flowers, the prison Governor commissions Colin, Fergus and three other inmates to cultivate Edgefield’s first garden. When the prison garden attracts the attention of flamboyant gardening expert, Georgina Woodhouse, she offers to sponsor the inmates in their first garden show. As a result of gardening, Colin gains a renewed lease on life, a newly found love for Georgina’s daughter and a chance to compete at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show–the largest outdoor garden event in the world.”

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (PG-13)
4.3 stars from 3300+ customer reviews

I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this one before! It’s from the director of Chocolat and the screenwriter of Slumdog Millionaire (and I really enjoyed the latter). I think my husband might actually watch this one with me (he’s big into fishing).

Description from Amazon: “A visionary Sheikh believes his passion for the peaceful pastime of salmon fishing can enrich the lives of his people, and he dreams of bringing the sport to the not so fish-friendly desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative to turn the dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain’s leading fisheries expert, who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister’s overzealous press secretary latches onto it as a ‘good will’ story. Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.”

Ladies in Lavender (PG-13)
4.3 stars from 1200+ customer reviews

Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in the same movie!

Description from Amazon: “This heartwarming film stars Academy Award-winners Judi Dench and Maggie Smith as two sisters whose quiet lives dramatically change when they discover Andrea, a badly-injured young foreigner washed ashore near their coastal home in pre-war England. Nursing Andrea back to health appeals to Janet’s more maternal instincts, but for Ursula, the young man’s presence evokes an indefinable longing for a life not lived.”

A modern telling of Cinderella, based on the novel by Jenni James.”

Road to Your Heart (NR)
4.1 stars from 700+ customer reviews

This one looks super cheesy.
